Iron Chef and West Wing reruns.

Just finished West Wing season 5..  This show is so addictive and well written, I wish more shows on these days were as smart as this one.

 ;yeah;

West Wing was an amazing series and I miss it.  Very well done even though it had a Sheen as the lead character as President with a biased very liberal political agenda in the story lines.  I liked the show as FICTIONAL entertainment.

TANGENT:   ;hijack;

My feelings about the Sheen's and other famous successful actors/entertainment figures using their fame to put their noses soooo much into real life politics to try to influence the public about serious matters is a separate topic, it bothers me since they mainly do it for self promotion and gain.

Yeah, so someone is a good actor in successful movies and/or TV shows to provide entertainment to the masses.  That's cool, do the acting and enjoy the fame and pay from it as an entertainer dealing with fiction.

Don't let it make you think that because you are popular in entertainment land that you are qualified to know about and influence/tell people about how to vote and deal with real world non-fictional matters.  Actors/entertainers live in a world of fiction with scripts handed to them!

IMHO:  Fame and box office results do not make celebrities qualified to give qualified opinions to the public in order to try to exert influence about serious things going on in the real life world of politics, law and legislation (which is pretty serious, especially with the economy and this current health care thing Obama is trying to push through).

Giving informed advice to make good voting decisions about laws and government policy regarding real life things that effect the populace have nothing to do with the skill set to be a good actor.  Yey, someone has become a famous actor in some blockbuster movie or TV series PLAYING a character and made lots of $$$, Whoopie!

That type of job is acting with fictional drama.  So what, somebody gets famous, makes a lot of cash and suddenly thinks they have good opinions and a foundation to advise others about serious non-fictional stuff?  Sean Penn and Angelina Jolie are examples and there are plenty more.

Actors and Hollywood people, stick to entertaining us in fiction fantasy land, let the lawyers, educated people and informed voters deal with making decisions RE: government policy issues, the law and how the government should be run.

When there is a crisis, like the one in Haiti right now where there is a need to generate public awareness in order to get donations, people to provide help and relief to the victims of a disaster, have at it and use your celebrity status to influence people to help others selflessly rather than as tokenism.

Kinda like this rare event went:

we are the world

/end rant about greedy shameless self serving celebrities

Watching the rain pour down and flood the backyard and everywhere else. It's supposed to go for a few more days.   >:(
Yeah we need rain in this area but this is a nonstop flood that makes it hard to walk around the corner to grab lunch.  Had to pull out my water proof ski jacket and bundle up to get a sandwich.  The jacket had tons of water beading and dripping off it when I got back after a ~3 minute walk each way.  I'm appreciating the synthetic water proof fabrics those chemical companies came up with.

In this rain my dog wont even go out front to do her buisiness cuz of how flooded the lawn is so she seems to be being a trooper and holding it.

Common girl , do it and get it over with ;flush;

Anybody watching that new first-year law firm associate show The Deep End? I heard it's about as realistic as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, minus the cool martial arts shenanigans.

I saw it, but it wasn't that interesting. The message was that first year associates will be worked to death but they will really love it  ;satan;

Oh, and that if you are an attorney, all the secretaries and paralegals want to f*ck you, and will.

Bring back Boston Legal!!!
