LSAC's LSDAS changing its name to CAS
« on: June 04, 2010, 01:45:29 PM »
In an effort to confuse law school applicants everywhere :) LSAC is changing the name of its Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS) to Credential Assembly Service (CAS). LSDAS, for those not familiar with it, is the "applicant information clearinghouse" for law school applicants: it's where you send your transcripts and letters of recommendation for processing, and it's also the service that puts together your Law School Report (which has copies of your transcripts, your GPA conversion, valid LSAT scores, and LSAT writing samples) which gets sent to the schools you apply to.

This name change WILL NOT affect what the organization does; all it does it change the acronym. However, I wanted to make sure let you guys know, since I've referred to "LSDAS" quite a bit in my posts and, in the near future, you won't see that acronym anywhere other than outdated forms.

As always, any questions about this (or anything else), just let me know. :)

Mods, could make this a sticky topic at the top of the Law School Admissions forum? Thanks!

I noticed this post was tacked back in 2010, and I don't think the name has changed? Are they still planning to change the name at some point?

Oh, right...duh. I misread the OP and thought that it was the LSAC that was supposedly changing names.  ;hammer;

Hahaha. No harm, no foul. :) I can't imagine LSAC ever changing their name. That would almost seem sacrilegious!
