What will you all do to celebrate this most momentous of days? Plant a tree? Grill up a hotdog? Both? Also, who do you have the Rams taking with their first pick?

RIGHT? I was shocked. I fully expected Clausen to go the first round, and here he is going in the second. Totally pulled a Brady Quinn--ironic that they were both Notre Dame QBs.

Let's just say that the "science" of drafting is anything but. There are too many factors that go into a player to tell for sure that he will be a 100% success. Three years ago JaMarcus Russell went #1 overall, and exactly how well has that worked out? There are plenty of similar examples (off the top of my head for #1s: Alex Smith, David Carr, Tim Couch).

You can't doubt Tebow as a person, and if the Broncos use him right, he can cause problems. I'm not sure he's an every down qb, but give the guy a chance first before saying that Denver made the worst pick in history (as some pundits have opined).

Clausen falling is all character concerns. He's kind of a jerk, and some of his past behavior makes him look spoiled and petulant. Lots of rumors about teammates not liking him. If you watched the ESPN QB show with Jon Gruden the segment with Clausen was painful. With Clausen, he tore him apart for not respecting the game or his teammates. On the other hand the segments with Tebow and McCoy were ones where Gruden obviously enjoyed talking to them and he liked what they said.

You're absolutely right. I thoroughly enjoyed the Tebow and McCoy segments (and was particularly impressed with the sheer work ethic demonstrated by Tebow). Gruden definitely didn't feel Clausen.

I still don't know why Gruden tore into McCoy so badly for his accent. I didn't think it was THAT bad. But, then again, I'm biased. I like a man with a southern drawl.  Grin

Clausen is a prick, McCoy is a baby, and Tebow...we'll I guess he's just a good guy that seems to always find a way. Now he's even closer to God in the mile high city!

Loving the Notre Dame melt!
