As if it wasn't bad enough that most law grads can't find a legal job nowadays, Indiana Tech has convinced itself that opening a new law school is a good idea. Just what the world needs: Another law school that will pump out yet more disillusioned, jobless law school grads into the market.

It blows my mind that, in this economy and with the lack of jobs, a university would even consider opening a new law school...........unless what they're looking for is money from unsuspecting law students. It says that the school wants to have its doors open by 2013...it definitely won't be accredited...it will fight with Indiana Bloomington, which is a T25 school (and will definitely loose)...what a crock. It just doesn't make sense. I'm thinking they're just going for the money. Law school = $$$$$$ (I should know, I just had to take out loans to pay for my firs tyear). Heck, I'm worried about how I'll get a job, and I'm still three years from graduating!

I definitely agree with some of what you both are saying. I don't get why any school would consider opening a new law school right now (particularly with all the controversy surrounding law school post-graduation employment numbers, and how likely it is that the whole accreditation and reporting of law schools will change in the new few years). I thought that what the University of Delaware did was much, much smarter: http://www.nationaljurist.com/content/university-delaware-puts-hold-law-school-plans

The last time I checked, the number of applicants to law school still far outstripped the number of available seats. Irrespective of any post-graduation numbers, a school can make a logical argument that as long as people continue to apply and want to go to law school, they have the obligation to provide that education.
