It's April and I still ahven't heard from a bunch of my schools. What does that mean? Are my chances much less of getting in? At this point I've sort of given up on the ones I haven't heard from, but I would still like to know, just for peace of mind.

Well, I'm thinking that it has a lot to do with when you submitted your apps. If you submitted them in March, then you may not hear anything until mid- to late April. It typically takes schools 4-6 weeks to get render decisions and get them mailed out, from what I've seen.

On the other hand, if you submitted your apps in December or January and still haven't heard, my gut tells me your chances are not excellent of getting in, simply because it sounds like they got your app, maybe reviewed it, and were maybe waiting to get more apps in and see how you stacked up. Based on what I've heard, the "top choice" candidates get responses pretty quick regardless of when they submit their applications, and the ones they're on the fence about have to wait until the schools reach critical mass in app numbers.

Just my $.02, though. I'm totally speculating.

I agree with LSG that a lot of it will depend on when you submitted your apps. When was that?

You should definitely be hearing from them soon. 4-6 weeks is the usual turnaround time, and around 8 weeks is also typical. Letters (hopefully fat ones!) should be on their way to you soon!

From my experience, waiting 6-9 weeks = put on waiting list, 9+ cannot offer you a place in their school.
