Apparently word on the street is that yet again some people associated with the ABA and with law school admissions and education are talking about changing the rules that require LS applicants to take the LSAT.

ABA panel considering making the LSAT optional:

My first thought about it:  The proposal has about the same chance of succeeding as does an ice cube of surviving in... with  Devil   You get the picture.

What do others think about it?  Let's have a discussion of thoughts about this.   arrow GO!

I highly doubt this will be adopted, and even if it is, law schools will continue to require the LSAT. It's an integral part of their admissions process, and an extremely easy way to differentiate between applicants. Not to mention that there is a significant correlation between LSAT scores and 1L grades. The predictive value of the LSAT is better than any other standardized test out there, so I see no reason why any law school will decide to drop it.

There are law schools are considering accepting GMAT scores in lieu of LSAT.  Some already do for JD-MBA students.

I've heard this too a few years ago to be precise. I however don't foresee this ever happening because as it was previously stated, this is one of the ways for the admissions officers to weed out applicants. Additionally while some schools may say this I don't believe any Tier 1 schools will actually implement this.

You're assuming they wouldn't just accept another test in its place to "weed out" applicants.  Like I said, some JD-MBA programs admit law students with their GMAT scores.  It's not a leap to expect some will begin doing this for all JD students.

There is a school in Boston that does not require the LSAT. I am not sure how that will affect the ABA and he is taking the Bar ex in June. I was offered to attend law school on line no thanks. The ABA does not recognize that (well in a federal field they do and I want to be an aviation attorney.) Any way if they made it optional I would be the first to say I am not taking it.
