A question for those of you who have applied to law school already: How long does it take to hear back from schools once you send in your applications?
It depends on the school, but the average that I've seen seems to be 6-8 weeks.
Wow, that long?? I thought I might hear before, like at 4 weeks or something.
The only way to insure you get a decision in as short as 4-8 weeks is if you applied EA/ED since schools that offer the option have a fixed decision deadline for them. Otherwise, if you submitted a standard application, depending on your numbers you may not receive decisions from some schools for several months. For example, Cornell does not even
START sending out decisions about regular applications until April.
The majority of application decisions are made by adcoms and sent out January through April but it keeps rolling on into summer. If you are a good but marginal applicant to schools you apply to and/or are put on a wait list, strap yourself in for a potentially LONG nail biting ride of waiting, and try not to stalk your postal carrier since they carry mace and pepper spray!
