This game is weird. I get the areas and how they work but it took me a long time. How common is is a game like this? I mean, am I likely to see something like this in December?

It is a weird game for sure.  Zendu is a one of its kind game.  There is no other game close to it in terms of its structure and peculiarity.  That being said, the chances of seeing something like it are very low.

However, that does not mean the chances are zero.  Case in point about weird old odd-ball games showing up again for a 'surprise! ambush you' repeat performance years after having been seen before.  June 2003, Zephyr airlines game.  It is also a rather peculiar game.  Prior to June 2003 there was only one previous game like it, the fourth game in the October 1992 LG section, the lake with connected islands.  It is weird with its structure and technically fits into the grouping category since you have to figure out which elements pair up together.

No game like the islands game had appeared again on a test since October 1992 so lots of people were thinking the islands game was just a one off fluke to never be seen again.  Along came June 2003 and then whammo, Zephyr airlines jumped out of the graveyard and onto a test to pound people for a while.  Zephyr is close to being a direct repeat of the islands game in terms of the logical structure.  Nobody saw it coming and it really messed up test day and scores for a lot of people.

With that being said, you probably wont get a Zendu like game but you never know.  LSAC has a bad habit of occasionally pulling an old dinosaur out of the dungeon, dusting it off, putting some clean clothes on it and then unleashing it upon test takers so it can terrorize them again.

Very unlikely that you would see that type of game on a particular LSAT administration. Jeffort is right in that ideas do repeat, but your study efforts are far better spent focusing on other types of games.

Yeah, Eliminator is correct.

To be able to handle whatever game types they throw at you on an upcoming administration your time is better spent focusing on typical game types/variations.  Get familiar with and good at handling the normal recurring concepts and logical structures.   Grouping, linear/sequencing, numerical distribution, etc.

The odd-ball/unusual structure games seem to be a thing of the past but they do occasionally pop up without warning.  The clown game from December 2006 is an example.  It turned out to be really easy if you made a good set-up before heading into the questions but many people that took that test got creamed by it due to its unusual structure.

Glad to hear this. It stumped me and at least now I know it was an anomaly.

Thanks for the help all.
