I think my Personal Statement is pretty strong...should I worry about also doing the optional essays that are mentioned on some of these applications?

Definitely--take every opportunity you can to let the admissions committee know who you are!

Yeah, that makes sense. Ugh...I guess there really is no easy route in this whole process. It's been a lot more work than I anticipated.

In my mind, there are no such things as "optional" essays for those applicants that are truly serious about getting into a particular school. Eliminator has it right: Take every opportunity to let the admissions committee know who you are. Also, look at it from the school's perspective: Who would you rather let in? Someone with excellent credentials who couldn't be bothered to complete the supplemental essays, or someone with the same creds that took the time to thoughtfully and thoroughly write them optional statements? I would take the latter every time -- they're already showing a commitment to the school without having even been accepted yet.

Yeah, the application process can definitely be time-consuming, but when you consider that you're essentially taking the first steps in what will likely be a lifelong career, it makes sense that it would be complex and time-consuming. If it were easy, it wouldn't be law school.
