Does anyone know any tricks or tips for getting tuition assistance or scholarships?

Since financial aid is either need-based or merit-based, there aren't really any "tips" or "tricks" unless you're willing to forge your transcripts or your taxes (neither of which is a good idea).

hee-hee, right...I guess that's not really what I meant. I just want to make sure I apply for every type of scholarship that I may qualify for.

I'm definitely going to apply for all of scholarships on the admissions website for the one school I'm shooting for. But aren't there also other scholarships that exist, maybe not specific to one school...maybe more on a national level? Where can I find things like that?

Going through each law school's website and applying to all the scholarships you can is definitely a good idea, but seeking out national scholarships is an even better one. There are a few resources available to you:

AdmissionsDean's Scholarship Finder: http://www.admissionsdean.com/paying_for_law_school/law-school-scholarship-finder

www.FastWeb.com (they cater mostly to prospective college students, but there are a few graduate school scholarships in there)

The American Bar Association (ABA) also has a number of scholarship opportunities listed on its site (they're not all in one single page, but a search for "scholarship" yields quite a few hits): http://search.abanet.org/search?sort=date:D:L:d1&access=a&output=xml_no_dtd&sort2=score&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&client=default_frontend&proxystylesheet=default_frontend&q=scholarships&btnG=Go  <-- if that doesn't work, just go to www.abanet.org and search for "scholarship" in the search box on the upper right corner

Ask your undergraduate institution's Career Services Office, too. They will likely know about outside scholarships you can apply for. In addition, ask your parents' employer(s) -- they may have scholarships for children (either dependent or not) of their employees. The Rotary Club, Kiwanis International, the Knights of Columbus and a number of other clubs like those may have scholarships available, too, as will national organizations like the Black Law Students Association.

Those are some options that I can come up with off the top of my head. I would also just do a general Google search on "law school scholarship" or "law school outside scholarships" and see what you come up with. Some of these scholarships aren't listed anywhere but the organization's website, so a Google search might be the best way to go about finding them.

My google search was pretty overwhelming, so this really helps with more specific direction.
