Hey LSAT Discussion - we're launching the beta version of an LSAT video game tomorrow - here's a sneak peek - www.atlaslsat.com/arcade

Have fun!

(BTW, I just joined here and am blown away by the emoticons options - I do not have that many emotions)

That's kinda cool dude--took a hella long time to open for me, though.

And yes, the emoticon options are a little ridiculous. It's a swirl of emotions more complex than the June 09 dinosaur game.

Interesting idea--kind of a fun diversion. I like those low-res graphics too.

I am so glad to hear that. Some guy was screaming that the graphics sucked and I realized that people might not realize the look was intentional. But, around here, where there's a lot of late 20 year olds and 30-somethings, the graphics give us a warm fuzzy all over. And, to add to my post, I'll say:  cheewey and further reference my childhood.

Huh, don't they know what the word "retro" means? Smiley

I like the low-res graphics too!  It brings back fond memories of playing the arcade classics in arcades when they were the new cutting edge games.  Ones like Joust (my all time favorite!), Pacman, Mrs. Pacman, Donkey Kong, frogger, etc.

And as well I'll reference my youth with another smiley I had to include in the giant set I built up for the board.   Light Saber

I like the lo-res, but then that's what I grew up on.  When I played PacMan, it was state of the art. I Agree

Hey Noah, since you are around the board, what's the update with the acquisition by Kaplan? Do you see any benefits from that relationship? Resources, etc...

thanks again for posting the link to the video game Smiley

Sorry for the delay - I mistakenly forgot to set up my profile to notify me of replies. I've met the folks over at Kaplan HQ - very friendly and bright - but other than collegial discussion and good lunches, they just watch us do our thing. No curriculum discussions, no discussion of how we run things, no nada. I think beyond them being too busy with their program, a hands-off approach is a smart business move on their part; we're simply a different beast, with a different mission. To try to meld what the two companies do would result in both losing more than they gain. I obviously was interested to see if people start to think of us as a Kaplan outfit, but mostly it's been competitors that have brought it up to try to discredit us, with an errant student or two asking at a workshop.

I was hoping to access some Kaplan resources in terms of having our online students go to Kaplan centers to take practice tests, but Kaplan is generally pretty open to folks coming in to take practice tests, so we've tabled that for now. Otherwise, I'm not sure what other resources to ask for - we're considering whether to give our students every single LSAT question published instead of the 30 or so LSATs we provide now (this issue seems like something that seems sexy - like the 100 hour class thing - though only 10% or less of students actually use). If we go that route, we may ask for help with setting up our online question delivery system, etc.

I'm trying to find the right emoticon to end this with.  Headbang  ?

Kaplan is so big and obviously has a lot of money behind them, that I guess resources to me was probably $$ or manpower. I wasn't interested in bringing it up as a negative, more as a curiosity thing. I hope that I didn't give the wrong impression!

Either way, I hope it all works out!

No, no, I didn't think you were trying to be negative. Yeah, they sure are big - and in case I forgot, I'm looking at an advertisement about them below this thread! Maybe someone can e-mail me some info on how someone else can advertise here...
